Time lapse camera and Best turkey decoy for fall turkey hunting
While old traditional fall turkey hunting articles are full of calling and scattering the flock tactics
technology has its place in the fall turkey season. It is no secret that when looking at the majority of
turkey hunters most are only experience with spring hunting techniques. What people sometimes do
not realize is that turkeys are even more vocal in the fall and instead of just gobblers having a social
pecking order all the flocks have a totally different social demeanor. It puts a new spin into your turkey
hunting tactics and allows for many to get out and hunt turkeys during a time of year that most are not
accustomed to. You will be amazed with a little scouting and use of your Best Turkey Decoy just how
productive and successful hunting fall turkeys can be.
This is not going to be a guide for scattering and master calling wild turkeys. Let’s face it is not a joy
walking miles with a blind on your back, chair, calls, and packing a weapon with fall clothing on trying
to locate a flock of turkeys. Turkey hunt smart and use technology as a scouting tool. With the release
of several of the time lapse cameras out there today why not know what your turkeys are going to do
before you go? Turkeys in the fall are very predictable for feeding and roosting areas for the most part.
Using a time lapse camera can allow you to know where to sit up not only your blind but also let you
pattern some of those old gobblers that are one tuff bird to try to call up in the fall if that is your goal.
All you are allowing the time lapse cameras to do is scout for you while you are not in the field. You can
even narrow down your hunting time to be extremely successful and deadly. There is no reason to sit all
day, call, and scatter birds once you know their pattern.
Several years ago I learned that if you can find a large group of gobblers and jakes in fall flocks that
using a semi strut and or full strut decoy like the Best Turkey Decoy that your traditional fall hunts can
become as heated, aggressive, and impressive as any spring hunt. Once you get a flock(s) figured out
and pattern all you have to do is throw a Best Turkey Decoy up on their daily path and sit back and
watch them come in to make a new friend or worse enemy it really is that simple. If you have ever
watched hens come in on your hen decoys in the spring you will see very similar results in the fall. It is
all based on pecking order and how birds socialize. Birds fight and gather just about every day in the fall
amongst themselves and other flocks so once you fill one tag don’t be surprised if you have more than
one opportunity to harvest a bird. This makes another great addition to fall hunting and that is hunting
with a friend or child.
Most of us fall turkey hunt on the same farms we deer hunt so the less pressure you put on the property
the better all hunting should be. So do yourself a favor and invest in a time lapse type camera and Best
Turkey this year and get out and enjoy some fall turkey hunting. Unlike a deer a turkey does not go
nocturnal and you will find your hunting productive. If you ever feel like you are not an expert on calling
or fall tactics turkey hunting do not worry about it. All you need to do is get out there and be where the
birds are on a daily basis and take the guess work out of it.
