Howard Hill
Howard Hill may have been the worlds greatest archer, and the average archer marvels at his archery feats. Watching some of Howard Hill’s demonstrations made me want to try some aerial targets. I started out practicing on hand thrown clay pigeons with field points. Needless to say I was not very successful. I did find however, that the more I tried the closer I got. Then I stumbled upon the website for Snaro.net.

Howard Hill I am not, but I get immense satisfaction from connecting with a aerial target with a 3″ Snaro from either my recurve or compound bow. With a Johnny Flu-Flu and a Snaro I don’t have to worry about losing arrows, I get to shoot aerial targets all day long keeping my mind and body tuned up for the archery deer season, and with a group of friends practicing is a great way to spend an afternoon.

After making a great shot on a fast flying clay pigeon, or even a quail flushing in front of the dog, I often wonder what Howard Hill would say. Shooting aerial targets is so much fun that my friends and I often schedule a weekend a month to hit the backyard with our Johnny Flu-Flus and Snaros and challenge each other. We have found that the harder we push ourselves the better we get. It is great fun and improves our archery skills immensely, as we are in tune with our equipment all year long.
